A recent report by global job platform Indeed highlighted that recognition from senior leaders and fostering openness at the workplace are pivotal to cultivating a positive organisational culture. According to the findings, 63% of employees emphasised the importance of leadership acknowledgment, underscoring its critical role in boosting morale and job satisfaction.
The report, which surveyed 3,005 individuals across India, including 30% C-suite executives and 70% employees, underscored the significance of validation in building confidence and enhancing collaboration.
Key findings on recognition and inclusion
The study revealed that:
63% of employees prioritise recognition from leadership as a significant factor contributing to workplace positivity.
62% reported feeling happier when their efforts were acknowledged by their teams.
58% stressed the importance of having their ideas and opinions valued by immediate colleagues.
Such recognition and inclusivity, the report states, empower employees and contribute to a collaborative work environment where individuals can thrive.
Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales at Indeed India, commented on the findings: "Acknowledgement and a safe, open environment are at the heart of a thriving workplace. Employees want to feel that their voices are heard and that their contributions matter. Companies that make recognition and inclusion core to their culture will be better positioned to attract, retain, and inspire a motivated workforce. Addressing these areas is not just good for employee well-being—it’s good for business."
Creativity and work environment
The study also emphasised the role of creativity and open communication in improving employee satisfaction and managing workplace stress:
64% of respondents stated that their organisations encouraged creative thinking, which strengthened their connection to their roles.
61% appreciated workplaces that allowed them the freedom to express themselves openly, fostering a greater sense of engagement.
By promoting idea-sharing and inclusivity, companies can establish a supportive culture that motivates employees and builds long-term loyalty.
Implications for businesses
The report concluded that organisations prioritising recognition, open dialogue, and creativity are better positioned to nurture a thriving workplace. Encouraging employees to contribute freely and valuing their inputs can significantly deepen their sense of connection to their roles, creating an empowered and motivated workforce.
