'I have no words left, just pain': Gurgaon resident shows flooded home near DLF Camellias after downpour

Life in Gurugram ground to a halt on the night of Wednesday as relentless downpour lashed the city and surrounding areas, triggering severe waterlogging, traffic paralysis, and widespread distress among residents. The rain continued into Thursday, exacerbating the chaos. Photos and videos capturing the scenes of urban collapse swiftly went viral on social media.

One such video that drew widespread attention was shared by a woman who claimed her home—located near the upscale Golf Course Road, in proximity to luxury developments such as DLF Camellias—had been flooded. In the clip, she documented the devastating aftermath inside her house, where brown, muddy water had inundated her living room. Personal belongings and furniture were seen floating in the deluge.

The video begins with visuals of the road outside her residence, completely submerged. It then shifts indoors, revealing her waterlogged home. In her caption, the woman wrote, “What happened last night has left me completely shattered. As most of you know, the weather yesterday was brutal — it poured relentlessly for nearly 4 hours. I live near Golf Course Road — the area known for its upscale high-rises like DLF Camellias, where homes are sold for Rs 100 crore. But even here, this is the harsh reality of Gurugram.”

Recounting the ordeal, she added, “When I returned from work, I found my car half-submerged in water. But what truly broke me was what I found inside my home. This is my home. A home I had carefully and lovingly set up after I moved in. Everything that was on the floor — furniture, belongings — was floating, soaked, and destroyed.”

Concluding her post, she wrote, “I have no words left. Just pain. Just disbelief. This is not just water damage. It’s emotional damage. And it’s real.”

A more critical voice noted, “Still people buying homes in Gurugram, this city should be unitedly abandoned for lack of urban planning.”

While residents in premium addresses faced the brunt of the flooding, the crisis unfolded across the city. Major roads such as Golf Course Extension Road, Sohna Road, and Subhash Chowk were submerged. Water levels in several areas rose to waist height. Many vehicles were left stranded, and commuters were forced to abandon their cars.

Tragically, at least five people have reportedly lost their lives due to rain-related incidents in Gurugram, including three individuals who were electrocuted in separate cases. The fatalities have further intensified the outcry over the city’s inability to manage seasonal rain.
