The cricketer-turned-commentator filed a complaint and a case was registered in a local police station in Agra.
The case report said that Dhruv had received Rs 57.8 lakh from Chopra to invest in the business and it was decided that the money had to be returned to Chopra inside 30 days, but one year later less than 50 per cent of the money had been given back to him.
"We entered into a formally notarised agreement which stipulated that Dhruv was to return the money within 30 days with a 20% profit, and post-dated cheques were provided for recovery. However, a year later, only Rs 24.5 lakh has been returned, and two issued cheques were dishonoured," Chopra was quoted in the report.
Chopra spoke to the main accused in the case-Kamlesh-who said he would pay the sum to him, on his son's behalf. But when he did not receive the amount, legal notices were issued. The father and the son cut off all communication with Chopra which led to him losing Rs 33.3 lakh.
This is not the first incident where the Parikhs have been caught cheating cricketers. In February, cricketer Deepak Chahar's father had filed a cheating complaint against the duo.
The Indian fast bowler's wife Jaya Bhardwaj had alleged that the duo had cheated her of Rs 10 lakh under the guise of a business venture, following which the complaint was made and a case was registered against them.
