Indian cinema is climbing up the Hollywood peak. With three nominations this year at the Academy Awards, Indian hype at the Oscars is all the buzz. Apart from the nominations, there are Indian presenters and performers at this year’s gala event. SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus “RRR” – a phenomenon across the globe – bagged a nomination in the Best Original Song category for “Naatu Naatu” – a first for India.
Also nominated is Shaunak Sen and Aman Mann’s “All That Breathes” in the Best Documentary Feature category and “The Elephant Whisperers” by Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga is up in the Best Documentary short film section.

The Presenter:
Deepika Padukone is the third ever Indian presenter at the Oscars this year after model Persis Khambatta, who starred as Lieutenant Ilia in “Star Trek: The Motion Picture”, in 1980 and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in 2016.
The Performance:
This year’s Academy Awards will also feature a live performance of “Naatu Naatu” by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava.
The Host:
Actor and comic Lilly Singh is co-hosting the official Oscars pre-show, interacting with stars on the red carpet.
The Guests:
Team “RRR” is expected to attend the award show along with other nominees in the other categories. “RRR” has won Best Foreign Film at a few award shows and “Naatu Naatu” has bagged several.
