Fans of American sitcom “Friends” and Matthew Perry’s well-wishers are reeling under the shock of the actor’s sudden death. Perry died from apparent drowning and was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday. While fans all over the world are devastated, a comedian’s insensitive remarks about Perry’s death have triggered widespread outrage.
Kevin Brennan, a former Saturday Night Live writer and comedian known for the MLC Podcast, faced severe backlash after “mocking” Perry’s death on X (formerly Twitter). “Drowned in a hot tub. Hahaha,” he wrote.

The post swiftly garnered traction online and social media users were quick to react to the post.
“Disgusting,” a user wrote. Another user commented, “Wow, you are so pathetic.”
“Oh wow. You’re a really terrible person. No wonder you don’t have any friends,” a third user remarked.
A user asked, “Why is drowning in a hot tub funny?” To which Brennan replied, “Because it’s not very deep.”

TMZ also covered the news with the headline "Ex-'SNL' Writer-Comedian Kevin Brennan Mocks Matthew Perry's Death." In response to the same, Brennan wrote, “I didn't mock it. I just thought it was funny. But I do love it when junkies die.”
That’s not all. Without any regard for his actions and other people’s emotions for Perry, Brennan shared another post in which he asked, “Am I trending yet?”

Meanwhile, the “Friends” cast – including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt Leblanc released a joint statement on Perry’s death.
"We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family," their statement reads. "There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."
"In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."
The note was also signed by all the actors.
