In a move rarely seen in India’s corporate sector, Delhi-based PR agency Elite Marque has announced a nine-day holiday for Diwali, earning widespread appreciation for its approach to employee well-being.
The firm, led by founder and CEO Rajat Grover, shared the announcement through an internal email that surprised staff with its warmth and humour. Grover encouraged his team to disconnect fully from work during the festive week, urging them to “rest, share late-night laughter with family and eat lots of sweets.”
He also added a reminder: “Switch off from emails, unless it’s Amazon, Swiggy, or Zomato.”
The break, described as “bonus time,” will run from October 18 to 26, 2025, allowing employees to spend time with loved ones without worrying about deadlines or office messages. Grover’s email went on to suggest light-hearted goals for the break, such as “binge-watching family dramas,” “breaking personal records of eating kaju katlis,” and “mastering the art of sleeping till noon.”
Signing off his message, Grover wrote, “Till then, spread smiles, burst crackers responsibly, and enjoy every bit of the festive madness.” He ended with a playful wish for his employees to return “two kilos heavier and ten times happier.”
The announcement drew attention online after an employee shared the email on LinkedIn, describing it as a reflection of “genuine workplace culture.” Her post read, “A genuine workplace culture is characterised by an employer who consistently places the needs and well-being of their employees at the forefront.”
The post quickly went viral, sparking praise from professionals across industries who said such gestures demonstrate genuine care beyond corporate slogans.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, an Elite Marque spokesperson said the message was received with enthusiasm across all levels of the organisation. “From new joiners to senior leaders, everyone felt it was a reminder that work-life balance isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a responsibility,” the spokesperson said, calling the move a “delightful gift.”
The firm’s decision stood out at a time when long hours, rigid return-to-office rules, and high burnout rates dominate workplace discussions.
