A video capturing a car purportedly belonging to government official in Bihar driving against traffic flow on the wrong side of the road and then intimidating another driver has sparked a controversy on social media. The footage, filmed on a dashcam in another vehicle driving head on towards the car, shows the bureaucrat’s car brazenly traversing on the wrong side of the road.

The two cars halt and, on realising that the other car would not budge, the official comes out to the other car. A heated confrontation with the driver of the other vehicle ensues, who staunchly refuses to budge, insisting that the police be summoned to address the traffic violation.

The incident happened near a flyover in Mithapur, Patna in the middle of the day amid congested traffic reportedly on April 1. The Tata Harrier XZ flaunts a red-blue government number plate.

Intimidation tactics and threats of the official were met with resistance from the other driver even as people gathered around to watch.

"Kaahe itne kaabil ban rahe ho, gaadi ke saath hi rakh lenge abhi tumko bhi aur gaadi ko bhi, samjha? (Why are you trying to pretend as if you are capable and smart. I will lock you up along with your vehicle)," the official is heard telling the driver who keeps his calm and questions his traffic violation instead.

Amidst the verbal exchange, the driver also informed the official that he has a recording of the whole incident and demands the police be called even as the official persistently urges the driver to vacate the opposing lane.

After a few more entitled statements, the official crosses the road to figure out a way to exit, while the driver recording the incident with a dashboard camera notifies an individual via phone call about the ongoing altercation.

“He came from the wrong side. I am not moving my car till he gets a police officer. I have pictures and videos. He has a board on his car, bohut neta ban rahe hai (trying to be a big shot),” the man tells on the phone and informed his location.

After a period of deliberation, the man eventually retreats to his vehicle and proceeds to drive off, albeit on to oncoming traffic. The driver, blasting loud music, finally drives off only to ironically face another biker coming directly at his car before dodging and driving off, the video shows.

The video has over 3 lakh views and numerous comments praising the driver recording the incident and demanding action against the official.

“Bihar is not even for bihari people. The person was showing attitude like he owns Bihar. He must be fired ASAP and kudos to the man who stood up,” one user wrote.

“Coming on wrong side and arguing too...they only don’t follow rules,” said a second.

Another joked: “Walking like Chulbul Pandey. Once they secure a government job, they think they own everything.”

“Officer must be fired, you're given power to serve public not for showing attitude. They have also equal right as much as officer you are,” a fourth said.

The Chief Minister's Office has been tagged by numerous people urging strict action against the official and the number plate of the car has also been shared. The Bihar Police or the CMO has not responded as of yet.

The fine for driving on the wrong of the road in Bihar for four wheelers is Rs 3,000.
