In the viral video, the mother and baby are heard screaming as 26-year-old Naveen Reddy -- a bouncer from Koramangala who was driving drunk -- attacked the car. A software engineer and his family returning home by their car in Bengaluru's Sarjapur Road were attacked by a man in an incident of road rage which was captured on camera. The chilling video doing rounds on social media shows the accused, identified as 26-year-old bouncer Naveen Reddy, attacking and damaging the car even when there was a baby aboard.

The clip also shows the techie Soumyasankar, 36, shout about having a baby in the car even as Reddy broke off the vehicle's wiper and smashed the windshield with it. Soumyasankar's wife and child can be heard screaming as shards of glass showered on them. The incident happened on Monday and Reddy has since been arrested.

The Bellandur police said that Reddy worked at a pub in Koramangala and was drunk at the time of the incident.

According to reports, Soumyasankar and his family -- who hail from Odisha -- were returning from a weekend trip when the incident took place. While driving on a particularly bad stretch of road riddled with potholes, Soumyashankar applied the brakes suddenly and Reddy, who was riding behind the car, bumped into it and fell. He got up, approached that car that stopped some distance away and began to accost Soumyashankar for applying the brake suddenly.

In a video uploaded by Soumyasankar on X, he can be heard trying to talk to Reddy but Reddy abused him and demanded he step out of the car. "I wanted to have a word with him but he appeared to come in rage to hit us," Soumyashankar wrote. He further clarified that he applied the brake because it was a slope and the road was wet; he wanted to avoid bumping into the car in front of him.

"For people questioning lane change please note it was a downslope flyover, rainy night with less visibility in OR/IRVM my priority was to avoid an accident with the car in front of me. When it came to absolute proximity, I had no other option than changing lanes after applying the brake," the software engineer wrote. Speaking about Reddy, he added that given the rains and the condition of the roads, he expected other motorists to maintain "a safer distance, wear a helmet and not drink and drive".

According to the police, Reddy, who was driving drunk, was triggered by the fall.

“He claimed that the car driver didn’t switch on the indicator but swerved to the left, causing him to crash into the car. He was triggered because the couple went ahead without stopping despite crashing into the car,” a senior police officer told Deccan Herald. Reddy has now been booked for attempt to murder.
