Yogiraj hails from a family of sculptors in Karnataka and he had used a unique Krishna shila (stone) from Bujjegoudanapura village in Mysuru district to sculpt the Ram Lalla idol along with his team, The New Indian Express reported. He was selected among three other sculptors to create the idol for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
Speaking to PTI before the inauguration of the temple, Yogiraj had said that sculpting the idol was not an easy task for him. “The idol should be of a child, who is divine too because it is the statue of the incarnation of God. People who look at the statue should feel the divinity,” he said, adding that it took him about six to finish it. “Now, I am extremely happy. More than selection, people should appreciate it. Only then, I will be happy."
