Nothing has confirmed that the SoC used on the upcoming Phone 2a will be the MediaTek Dimensity 7200. MediaTek's name had been in the rumours for a while now and Nothing has now officially confirmed about the processor for the smartphone.

The company said that the variant used for the Phone 2a will be built on TSMC's second-generation 4nm process and it will be an 8-core module with clock speeds of up to 2.8 GHz. Nothing says that the chip will be paired with up to 20GB of RAM, "thanks to the new RAM booster technology" which will ensure, "swift and responsive multitasking all day long".

Nothing says that the chip performs up to 18 percent faster than the Phone 1 and is 16 percent more battery efficient than the Phone 1. The company says it will also make use of "Smart Clean" technology, which will clean "out-of-order file fragments", which will boost performance by increasing read and write speeds.
