Google ignored warnings from staff ahead of Bard AI launch

Bard testers raised repeated concerns about the bot being a 'pathological liar' which gave false information that could 'result in serious injury or death'.

  • In February, a Google employee posted a thread on an internal forum that called Bard "worse than useless" and pleaded with executives not to launch the bot in its current state.
  • In March, Google's AI principles and governance lead Jen Gennai overruled internal assessments of Bard from her team which said that it was not ready for launch.

Snapchat's ChatGPT-based My AI now available to all users

Snapchat has announced that it will be expanding its ChatGPT-based My AI bot to all users. Previously, the bot was limited to Snapchat+ subscribers but will now roll out globally to everyone on the platform.

  • The social media company also announced new features for the bot, including the ability for users to customise My AI to their liking with, "thousands of unique Bitmoji variations".
  • Snapchat acknowledges that My AI is "far from perfect" but the company has made a lot of progress. The platform said they, "will continue to use these early learnings to make AI a more safe, fun, and useful experience".

Viral AI song that featured Drake and The Weeknd gets taken down

An AI-generated song titled 'Heart on My Sleeve' went viral for mimicking the voices of musicians Drake and The Weeknd.

  • Before the copyright claim, the song had been streamed nearly 600,000 times on Spotify, and had more than 15 million views on TikTok.
  • No one knows who the author of the song is. A TikTok account with the name 'Ghostwriter977' was the first to upload it. Then later, as reported by The Verge, the account mysteriously started deleting all its posts on TikTok.
