The low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal has intensified and become well-marked and is expected to move across Odisha and Chhattisgarh during the next two days, the IMD said.
The low-pressure area would form over the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours, it said.

The cyclone is expected to make landfall at around noon on May 14, crossing southeast Bangladesh and north Myanmar coasts with wind speeds of up to 175 kmph

The cyclonic storm lay centred about 550 km southeast of Vishakhapatnam and 680 km south-southeast of Puri at 5:30 am on Monday, a special bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said at 8:45 am.
The IMD DG Mrutunjay Mohaptra has on Saturday made it clear the cyclone was unlikely to make landfall either in the coast of Odisha or Andhra Pradesh, but will move parallel to the coast in the sea.

The low pressure area (LPA), which was formed on Tuesday, was expected to move east-northeastwards and become a well marked LPA by Saturday and subsequently move along and off Andaman & Nicobar islands before intensifying into a depression, the India Meteorological Department said.
"Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over southwest Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. It is likely to move westnorthwestwards towards Sri Lanka and south Tamil Nadu coast," it added.
