The NIA has vehemently denied any malicious intent, countering accusations from the ruling TMC that it is acting in favor of the BJP. The incident in Purba Medinipur district saw an NIA officer injured and a vehicle damaged when a mob allegedly attacked the agency team. The wife of one of the arrested individuals has filed a complaint, accusing NIA officers of misconduct during the raid.

The NIA has defended its actions, stating they were part of a legitimate investigation into a bombing incident that occurred in Bhupatinagar in 2022. The agency maintains that the arrests were made following proper legal procedures.
