Opposition rally at Ramlila Maidan: Sunita Kejriwal reads out Arvind Kejriwal's ‘letter’

She also read out the six guarantees promised by Arvind Kejriwal ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing the crowd at the Ramlila Maidan, Sunita Kejriwal on March 31 read out a message written by her husband and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inside the Enforcement Directorate's custody.

Our Prime Minister jailed my husband. Did he do the right thing? Don't you believe that Kejriwal ji is an honest man? Should Kejriwal ji resign? Your Kejriwal is a lion. He lives in the hearts of crore of people , said Sunita Kejriwal, wife of jailed Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

She also read out the six guarantees promised by Arvind Kejriwal ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. These guarantees are- 24-hour nationwide electricity, free electricity for poor across the nation,  good government schools in all villages and colonies, Mohalla clinics for all mohallas (colonies) and villages, MSP for farmers as per the Swaminathan committee report and full statehood for Delhi.

Quoting Arvind Kejriwal, Sunita said: "I am not asking for votes today... I invite 140 crore Indians to make a new India... India is a great nation with thousands of years old civilisation... I think about Mother India from inside the jail and she is in pain... Let's make a new India... If INDIA Alliance is given an opportunity, we will build a new India... I present 6 guarantees on behalf of INDIA Alliance. First, there will be no power cuts in the whole country. Second, electricity would be free for the poor people. Third, we will make government schools in every village. Fourth, we will make Mohalla Clinics in every village. We will make a multi-speciality government hospital in every district. Everyone would get free treatment. Fifth, farmers would be given the correct price for the crops. Sixth, the people of Delhi have faced injustice for 75 years... We will give statehood to Delhi... We will complete these 6 guarantees in 5 years. I have made all the planning from where the money for these guarantees will come..."

The INDIA bloc is anticipated to voice vehement criticism against what it deems as the BJP's exploitation of central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate, CBI, and the Income Tax Department.

The Bharatiya Janata Party insists that Mr Kejriwal's arrest by the ED and the issuance of tax notifications to the Congress were outcomes of the agencies operating autonomously and adhering to legal protocols. Additionally, it criticised the AAP for persisting in its demand for the Delhi chief minister to govern from jail.
