The Freebowler Superthrower is a non-electric, portable bowling machine that produces natural variations in line and length providing a realistic batting experience.
The Freebowler Superthrower is a brainchild of Bengaluru-based Pratheek Palanethra and Justin Jacobs. Pratheek came up with the idea to build an inexpensive, non-electric and portable bowling machine when he couldn't find anyone to practice cricket with, while pursuing a masters degree in the US. He roped in his then classmate Jacobs and what initially began as a class project turned into a full-fledged startup called Freebowler. (Image: Freebowler)

The throwing arm of the machine needs to be first pulled down and locked in place. Then the foot lever is pushed down and locked which actuates the spring action. (Image: Freebowler)

Unlike electric bowling machines which make use of dimpled polyurethane balls, the Freebowler Superthrower uses real cricket balls. This helps a batsman get a better feel of the ball while making contact with the middle of the bat. (Image: Freebowler)

The ball in the throwing cup can be set at different angles and orientations using a knob which induces variations in length and swings. The wheels at the bottom of the machine make it possible to move it around resulting in different lengths and bounce. (Image: Freebowler)
