Ranveer Singh’s next big release, Dhurandhar, is shaping up to be a full-blown cinematic marathon. The trailer drops on November 18, and early reports suggest the film might cross the three-hour mark, making it the longest project of Ranveer’s career so far. The final duration isn’t locked yet, but the early word paints a clear picture of the scale Aditya Dhar is working with.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, “Dhurandhar has a vast and expansive storyline. The focus is on Ranveer Singh's character and what he goes through, while other actors also play crucial parts. Director Aditya Dhar is clear that he doesn't want to rush through the narrative but, at the same time, wants to ensure that every scene engages and excites the audience.” That gives you a sense of the ambition here. This isn’t a quick-fire thriller. It’s a story designed to unfold slowly and with weight.
“At present, the final runtime of Dhurandhar is more than three hours — around three hours and five minutes. The final duration, to be locked by Aditya Dhar, Jio Studios, and B62 Studios, will be confirmed in the next 10 days.”
What this really means is that the teams involved are still deciding whether to trim the runtime or let it stand the way it is. Either way, the intention is clear: they’re not shaving off minutes at the cost of the story.
A three-hour-plus movie wouldn’t be completely new territory for Ranveer, but it would be a step beyond anything he has done before. His longest film up to now is Dil Dhadakne Do, which ran for two hours and 51 minutes. After that comes Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani at two hours and 48 minutes, followed by 83 and Padmaavat, both at two hours and 43 minutes. On the other end of the scale sits Kill Dil, a brisk one hour and 57 minutes, his shortest feature so far. Dhurandhar, if it stays at its current length, moves him into a different league of long-format storytelling.
The film itself has been built on a large canvas. Directed by Aditya Dhar and inspired by real incidents, Dhurandhar dives into the world of cross-border intelligence operations. Ranveer leads a solid ensemble that includes Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The trailer was supposed to release on November 15 but was held back after the Delhi Red Fort blast on November 10, a decision made out of sensitivity to the situation.
Dhurandhar now heads toward its December 5 theatrical release with a mix of curiosity and expectation around it. A long runtime can be a gamble, but when a story has the muscle to carry it, the length becomes a part of the experience. This one looks like a film betting on exactly that.
