As the new year unfolds, Kawasaki India has launched the highly anticipated 2024 Ninja ZX-6R, signalling the Japanese brand's re-entry into the middle-weight supersport segment. Design evolution: One of the most noticeable changes in the 2024 Ninja ZX-6R lies in its design. While maintaining its sharp and aggressive appeal, the bike has undergone a facelift with a redesigned front-end, featuring dual headlamps and a more pronounced fairing. The LED headlights have been revamped, aligning the bike's aesthetics with the current-generation ZX-10R. Drawing inspiration from its Ninja family siblings, the model boasts a new fascia, split LED headlamps, a reworked windshield, and 3D interwoven bodywork. Additionally, new winglets have been integrated to enhance stability at high speeds, something you usually see only on the bigger litre-class bikes.

Performance: Under the hood, the 2024 Ninja ZX-6R houses an updated 636cc inline-4 engine that adheres to the stringent BS-VI emission regulations. Despite the compliance, the engine manages to produce an impressive 128 hp of maximum power and 69 Nm of peak torque. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, featuring a bi-directional quickshifter, the bike promises a thrilling and responsive ride. The engine now offers four distinct riding modes – Sport, Road, Rain, and Rider (customisable) – each preset with specific power and traction control levels, allowing riders to tailor the engine responsiveness to their situations and preferences.

Electronics and connectivity: In keeping with modern trends, the 2024 ZX-6R is equipped with a TFT display that not only adds a touch of sophistication but also introduces Bluetooth connectivity. This feature allows riders to sync their smartphones with the bike, providing access to notifications and calls directly on the display. The Ridology app further enhances the connectivity experience, offering seamless integration between the rider and the machine.

Enhanced features and specifications: Kawasaki has not only elevated the style and performance of the Ninja ZX-6R but has also introduced several new features. The bike now comes with an assist-and-slipper clutch, LED indicators, and an advanced suspension system, comprising adjustable Showa SFF-BP front forks and a rear monoshock. Traction control with three modes, Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock brake system, and power modes (road, sport, and rain) add a layer of sophistication to the bike's electronic arsenal. The 4.3-inch TFT display serves as the nerve centre, providing vital information to the rider.

Price and competition check: With a price tag of Rs 11.09 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2024 Kawasaki ZX-6R is positioned strategically in the market. Despite a Rs 60,000 increase, compared to the pre-BS-VI era, the bike offers a competitive proposition, nestled between the Z900 and the Ninja 1000 SX in Kawasaki's line-up. Its closest rival in terms of price, capability, and performance is the Street Triple RS, priced at Rs 11.81 lakh.
