Yamuna River has been flowing above danger mark

As Delhi continued to witness incessant rainfall on Wednesday, the water level of the Yamuna River reached 207 metres at the Old Railway Bridge. The mark was breached at around 1 pm on Wednesday.

Yamuna has been flowing above the danger mark in the capital city, as rains continue to lash Delhi and its surrounding areas. The danger mark is around 205.33 metres. ANI has reported that the Yamuna, on Wednesday morning, recorded an all-time increase of 208.66 metres.

After this, as the flood situation loomed large in the city, residents living in low-lying areas were evacuated and shifted to safer places in the capital city. Several shopkeepers also removed their goods from their shops in a bid to prevent any possible damage.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in the coming hours on Wednesday.

According to an X post that was made by IMD, "Thunderstorm/ Lightning with Heavy Rain very likely over parts of South East Delhi, East Delhi, Shahadra, Central Delhi, North East Delhi, South Delhi, New Delhi, South West Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi, North Delhi."
"Thunderstorm/ Lightning with Moderate Rain very likely over parts of South East Delhi, Shahadra, South Delhi, New Delhi, South West Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi, North Delhi," the X post added.

"Light Rain/ Light Thunderstorm with Lightning (wind speed 30–40 kmph) very likely over parts of South Delhi," IMD's X post further said.
