Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Jagat Prasad Nadda declared on Saturday that if his party comes to power in Jharkhand, children of infiltrator father and local Adivasi mother would not be granted tribal rights.
His remarks came as he was addressing an election rally at Bishrampur in Palamu district. Nadda further accused the JMM-led government of harbouring illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and promised their deportation.
“Children of Bangladeshi infiltrator father and Adivasi mother will be denied tribal rights if BJP is voted to power in Jharkhand. It will not allow infiltration to continue,” Nadda was quoted as saying by PTI.
He alleged that "corrupt people and thieves" are part of the JMM-led government in the state.
“Time has come to oust single engine government from Jharkhand and restore double engine government here for all-round development,” the BJP chief said.
Nadda’s remarks came just days before the Assembly polls in Jharkhand. The polls for the Jharkhand Assembly, which has 81 seats, will be held on November 13 and November 20 and the results will be announced on November 23.
With elections approaching in the state, both the ruling JMM coalition and the opposition BJP have intensified their verbal attacks against each other.
In a recent interaction, Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren accused the saffron party of “squeezing the state like a lemon” for almost two decades and “smashing” the backbones of poor states.
He also charged the BJP-led Centre with "destroying" the federal structure of the country by creating "double engine governments" through "poaching of MLAs, MPs, and toppling governments".
"BJP squeezed Jharkhand like a lemon in the last 20 years, but this has to end now. We feed the cow and they milk it. This cannot be allowed anymore. They plundered Jharkhand’s wealth. It is a paradox that Jharkhand, rich in mineral resources, is one of the poorest states," Soren claimed in an exclusive interview with PTI.
