Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S Ramadoss on Thursday expelled his son Anbumani Ramadoss from the party. Ramadoss said Anbumani had continued to ignore the advice of senior people in the party, and refused to listen to his father as well.
He instructed the party cadre to cut all ties with Anbumani. With this drastic move, the rift between father and son that has been worsening over the past few months has seemingly reached a point of no-return.'
Announcing the decision at a press conference at his Thailapuram residence near Tindivanam, he said the Disciplinary Action Committee of the PMK had levelled 16 charges against Anbumani. A show-cause notice was served on him seeking explanation, but he did not respond to it. Though Mr. Anbumani was granted an extension of time to reply to the notice, he preferred neither submitting his written explanation nor appearing in person to respond to the charges.
This only goes to prove that Anbumani has no valid grounds to present his reply, and in accordance with the party’s bylaws and rules, he has been removed from the post of working president as well as from the primary membership of the party, Ramadoss said.
S Ramadoss also accused Anbumani of indulging in “anti-party activities” that had damaged the reputation of the organisation in an unprecedented manner since its inception. He appealed to party workers not to have any truck with Mr. Anbumani and warned that he would not hesitate to take action against anyone who defied the decision.
