Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday invited citizens to take part in an online auction featuring a curated collection of gifts he received during various official programmes and engagements.
The online auction began on September 17 on the 75th birthday of PM Modi and will end on October 2.
The proceeds from the auction, he said, would go towards the Namami Gange Project, aimed at conservation and rejuvenation of the Ganga river.
“Over the past few days, the online auction for the various gifts I have received during my different programmes has been underway. The auction includes very interesting works which illustrate the culture and creativity of India. The proceeds from the auction will go towards Namami Gange. Do take part in the auction,” the Prime Minister wrote on X.

1,300 gifts up for grabs
Union minister for culture and tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had earlier said that over 1,300 gifts received by the PM would be auctioned online.
The items being auctioned include paintings, artefacts, sculptures, idols of God and goddesses as well as some sports items.
A user can visit pmmementos.gov.in, register an account and bid for the gifts in the auction.
As per the PM Mementos' website, the model of Ram Mandir in silver, Kamdhenu with calf, model of a cane ship, wooden charkha, and other items are part of the live auction.
The first auction was held in January 2019. Since then, thousands of unique gifts presented to PM Modi have been auctioned, raising more than Rs 50 crore in support of the Namami Gange project.
Namami Gange project
According to the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the Namami Gange programme is an integrated conservation mission approved by the central government in June 2014 as a 'flagship programme' to achieve the twin objectives of pollution abatement, conservation, and rejuvenation of the national river Ganga with a budget outlay of Rs 20,000 crore.
The government launched the Namami Gange Programme (NGP) in 2014-15 for the rejuvenation of river Ganga and its tributaries with a budgetary outlay of Rs 20,000 crore, for five years, up to March 2021 and has been further extended to March 2026 with a budgetary outlay of Rs 22,500 crore.
