Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed the plenary session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in China’s Tianjin on Monday.

Ahead of the session commencement, Modi, Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping had an informal meet at the venue.

“Always a delight to meet President Putin!,” the PM wrote on X. The two leaders are set to hold bilateral talks later in the day. The talk assumes significance amid US President Trump’s tariff "penalty" heat on New Delhi over its oil trade with Moscow.

"I am happy to participate in the SCO Summit. I want to thank President Xi Jinping for giving us a grand welcome. Today is the Independence Day of Uzbekistan, I congratulate them as well...", said PM Modi.
