BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, late Tuesday evening, launched a scathing attack on veteran actor and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan after a video surfaced of Bachchan shoving away a man who attempted to take a selfie with her at Delhi’s Constitution Club.

In the clip, which quickly went viral, Bachchan is seen turning to a man standing close to her with his phone and forcefully pushing him back, asking, “Kya kar rahe hai aap? What is this?”

Sharing the video on Instagram Stories, actor Kangana Ranaut lashed out at Bachchan, calling her “the most spoilt and privileged woman” and accusing her of riding on her husband Amitabh Bachchan’s stature.

“People put up with her tantrums/non-sense just because she is Amitabh Bachchan ji’s wife. That Samajwadi topi looks like a rooster comb, while she looks like a fighting cock!! Such disgrace and shame,” Kangana wrote.

The BJP MP's sharp comments triggered a fresh round of public debate over Bachchan’s temperament. While some condemned her “rudeness” and “habitual” behaviour, others questioned why people insist on taking selfies with celebrities who clearly dislike such interactions.

Notably, this marks the latest clash in a history of public spats between the two MPs.

Back in 2020, Bachchan had criticised Ranaut's remarks likening the film industry to a “gutter,” prompting the BJP MP to accuse her of being insensitive toward victims of abuse in the industry.

Interestingly, in a 2024 interview with News18, Ranaut had briefly struck a different tone, calling Bachchan “one of the most dignified women in the film industry” and praising her conduct in the Rajya Sabha.
