Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs and Petroleum & Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, stated that India is poised to reach a $4 trillion economy by the end of the year and is projected to attain a $10 trillion economy by 2030. He also emphasised the significance of the growing India-US relationship, highlighting the importance of collaboration in areas such as green energy and others to promote mutual growth.

Addressing the 10th Annual Forum of the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI), Puri said, “India will be a $4 trillion economy by the end of the year and $10 trillion by 2030. The growth of India-US ties is important. Areas like green energy and others will be significant for collaboration to foster mutual growth.”

Puri highlighted that India has the world's most extensive metro network, surpassing the United States, and outlined plans to increase the number of airports by two-fold by 2040, noting the country's order of 1000 new aircraft, while underlining the importance of availability, affordability, and sustainability for India's continued development.

“India has the largest metro network in the world, larger than the US,” said Puri. Speaking about air connectivity, he said, “We have 74 airports, which will be doubled in number by 2040.” He also mentioned that India was among the few countries that have ordered 1000 new aircraft.

Puri stated that the Modi Government, recognizing the challenges faced by street vendors, introduced the "AtmaNirbharNidhi" (PM SVAnidhi) scheme in June 2020, which made it possible for all street vendors to access interest-free loans.

He said, “As of now, 53 lakh street vendors have already availed the loan facility, and a total sum of Rs. 9,100 crore has been disbursed under this scheme.”

Talking about good governance and its pivotal role in driving economic progress, he said, “We were confronted by two models - one was an economic growth model, and the other was a freebies model which appeared appealing in the short term. People have the choice between these two models. The Modi government is a testament to the first model.”
