In a shocking case of murder, two brothers from Mokhasan village in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar allegedly killed a man over a long-standing affair with their mother, on Sunday.

According to a Times of India report, the brothers, Sanjay Thakor (27) and Jayesh Thakor (23), are said to have been angry for years over the affair between their mother and 45-year-old mason Ratanji Thakor.

They believed that the relationship dishonoured their late father's memory and brought shame to the family.

According to an FIR filed with Kalol taluka police, the brothers had previously warned Ratanji to stay away from their mother. The victim's son, Ajay, also mentioned in the FIR that they had even approached community elders to resolve the issue, but efforts failed.

The brothers had brawled with the victim a couple of times too, said the police.

On Sunday, Ratanji and his associate, Jikuji Parmar, were working on the construction of a house in the village when Sanjay and Jayesh attacked. Armed with a knife and a rod, Jayesh struck Ratanji on the head with the rod, causing him to fall. Sanjay then repeatedly stabbed him, while Jayesh allegedly flung Ratanji's intestines into the air in front of shocked onlookers.

Some labourers and Ratanji’s friend tried to intervene, but the brothers threatened them with the bloodied knife and rod before fleeing on their motorcycle.

Police tracked the accused using their mobile phone locations and arrested them later that day. Both the brothers have been charged with murder and abetment.
