The India Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for Delhi on Wednesday. Thunderstorms and lightning have also been predicted.
According to an X post that was made by IMD, "Thunderstorm/ Lightning with Heavy Rain very likely over parts of South East Delhi, East Delhi, Shahadra, Central Delhi, North East Delhi, South Delhi, New Delhi, South West Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi, North Delhi."
"Thunderstorm/ Lightning with Moderate Rain very likely over parts of South East Delhi, Shahadra, South Delhi, New Delhi, South West Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi, North Delhi," the X post added.
"Light Rain/ Light Thunderstorm with Lightning (wind speed 30–40 kmph) very likely over parts of South Delhi," IMD's X post further said.
Meanwhile, the last few days have been difficult for the national capital after incessant rainfall has been lashing several parts of the city and its surrounding areas.
The National Capital Region (NCR) was battered by heavy rains on Monday, plunging Delhi and its adjoining districts Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad into turmoil.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued an orange alert for the region, while Gurugram is placed under a warning for very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.
On Monday and Tuesday, the downpour left roads waterlogged, causing massive traffic snarls. Long queues of vehicles were seen inching forward across major stretches, particularly underpasses and low-lying areas in Delhi-NCR.
