Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud recently said that he has opted to turn completely vegan. Speaking at a Delhi High Court event, the Chief Justice said that he doesn’t buy new products of silk and leather.

The reason? The CJI said that it was his daughter who has inspired him to take the decision. Talking about his daughters, the CJI said that his specially-abled daughters inspire him. He said that recently, his daughter spoke about how one should lead a cruelty-free life.

This led to some introspection and the CJI decided to turn vegan completely. Apart from the CJI, his wife has also opted for a cruelty-free lifestyle. The family doesn’t buy any silk or leather products now. Chief Justice Chandrachud was quoted as saying by Bar & Bench.

Addressing the launch of Digital Law Reports and a food outlet inside the court premises, the CJI spoke at length about his experience with specially-abled people.

He said that the differently-abled people have amazing talent and so much potential. The food outlet in the Delhi High Court will be run by neuro-diverse persons.
