Right then, the first game of a double-header Saturday in the IPL is done and dusted and it is Delhi Capitals who remain unbeaten and at the top of the points table. The only other unbeaten side, Punjab Kings, are up next in action and they have opted to bowl first against a resurgent Rajasthan Royals side. You can simply switch tabs and catch our coverage of that game. Cheers!

KL Rahul is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his fine knock in the first innings. Rahul starts by saying that it is how it is and he is used to batting at any spot. Adds that before the tournament began, he was setting up to open the innings but was told to fill in the number 4 slot and is happy to be back at the top of the order. Adds that it is more mental and getting used to walking in at a particular stage and once the body gets used to that, you get unsettled if you are shifted in the batting order and he's trying to go from ball one rather than not taking 2-3 balls. Reckons that he started off well and through the middle, it got a bit scratchy and a couple of good partnerships and those quickfire cameos set things up nicely, which allowed him to take some time as well and go deep.

Axar Patel, the Delhi Capitals skipper, says that he didn’t think it was going to be easy to go three in three but is happy with the performance of the side. Adds that they have discussed in the team meeting that having an impact on the game is important for them. Mentions that the strike rate is good for most of the batters and the execution is going well for them. Shares that he has a bit of an injury in his finger so he didn’t bowl much today. Says that their win is good, but they need to improve on areas and get better. Ends by sharing that they don’t want to get laid back and need to keep going as it’s a long tournament.

The Presentation ceremony...

Mitchell Starc is now down for a chat. He says that it's their first away game and it was a good performance overall with the batters adjusting to the conditions well and getting a par score and applauds the bowling unit as well. Mentions that the key to all cricket is that there are multiple contributions, and that's what they managed to do. Chuckles that it is as hot as in Vizag but the pace of the pitch is a bit different and this one took some turn as well. On his yorker, he says that people know it's coming but he still has to execute it and you can't afford to have an ego as a bowler in T20 cricket and need to adjust and try and stay a bit ahead of the batters.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Chennai Super Kings skipper, is down for a chat. He says that it has not gone their way since the last three games. Adds that they are trying their best but it’s not working for them. Shares that the Powerplay is a major concern in both departments, as things are not happening at the moment. Mentions that they are being more tentative and concerned, focusing on not losing wickets while batting, which is putting them behind. Tells that they need everyone to come together and click as a unit. Says that since powerplay, they were playing a catch-up game and were playing a batter short. Ends by adding that the plan was to take the game deep, but credits DC, who bowled well and did not allow them to get back in the game.

Earlier in the game, Axar Patel had no hesitation opting to bat first as it was a day game and the surface was likely to get slower. CSK, though, got the perfect start as Khaleel Ahmed sent JFM packing, but then came the counter-attack from Abishek Porel and KL Rahul, who put on a 54-run stand. The middle overs proved to be neck-and-neck as Rahul notched up a fine Fifty. However, Matheesha Pathirana bowled a stellar spell at the death to pull things back and DC had to settle for 183 on the board.

CSK began the 2025 campaign brightly with a win against their arch-rivals but have now lost three in a row, which is a big worry, as two teams that hadn't won in Chennai for more than half a decade have come here and done the job. The batting had been a worry before this game and it was a similar story yet again. The top 3 were undone inside the Powerplay with the middle order unable to do much damage either. The only one who got runs was Vijay Shankar and he even got multiple lives, but he finished unbeaten on 69 along with MS Dhoni, who scored 30 but off 26 deliveries.

The foundation of the win was laid up top by Mukesh Kumar, who got rid of Rachin Ravindra in the 2nd over. Mitchell Starc then followed it up with a wicket of his own and should have had two in the same over as well. Vipraj Nigam, entrusted to bowl the final Powerplay over, got the wicket of Conway and then even saw the back of the Impact sub, Shivam Dube, which really was the wicket that got DC the firm grip on the chase. After that, Kuldeep Yadav weaved his magic as the others chipped in and DC were able to breach the Chepauk fortress after 15 long years.

DELHI CAPITALS HAVE DONE IT! Yet another clinical showing and the Capitals keep their spotless record intact with 3 wins out of 3. It was a stellar showing with the ball as they suffocated the CSK batters, leaving the home side still without a successful run chase of over 180 runs since the 2019 IPL season.

19.6FINALLY A WIN FOR DELHI CAPITALS AT CHEPAUK AFTER 2010! Low full toss on off. Shankar drills it past the bowler and down to long-off for a single. The Capitals win by 25 runs and make it three out of three wins to start their season.

16.1Flatter arm ball, on the middle and leg. Shankar tucks it through backward square leg for one.

STRATEGIC BREAK! CSK are struggling at 112/5 at the end of 16 overs and need another 72 off the last four overs. Both the batters are well set now and will need to up the ante to get close to the target. The required rate has touched 18 runs to the over and the home side will want to avoid a hat-trick of losses. The Capitals, meanwhile, have done most things right and are on top of their game. They will look to pick a couple more wickets and squeeze the game in their favor. Axar Patel finally brings himself into the attack.

15.6Yorker length delivery on off. Shankar gets under it and drills it toward long-on for one.

Jadeja comes forward and looks to nudge through the leg side. He misses and gets pinned in front. An easy decision for the umpire and Jadeja does not bother to review it. CSK have lost half of their side now.

10.3Flatter length ball, on off. Vijay Shankar knocks it through mid-wicket and settles for a single.

10.2In the air but falls safe! Floated full, around off. Vijay Shankar lofts it toward wide of long-off for two more.

10.1Flatter leg break, on the middle. Vijay Shankar works it through square leg and takes a couple.

Kuldeep Yadav back-pedals and tries to reverse cup it over his shoulder but the ball goes straight through. They get a single and could this be Shankar's night here as he gets away with another chance? Also, Mohit Sharma in the deep could have called as it would have been easier for him, running towards the ball.

9.5On the shorter side, drifting in from outside off, Jadeja hops across and works it past square leg for a run more.

9.4Tossed up, full and outside off, Shankar drives it uppishly and wide of long off for one more.

9.3Around the wicket to the left-hander, floated wide of off, Jadeja leans across and clips it wide of mid-wicket for a single.

Ravindra Jadeja is the next batter in.

9.2OUT! CAUGHT! Brave bowling from Vipraj Nigam and he has the last laugh as he gets the big wicket fo Shivam Dube now. This is tossed up, a bit fuller and around off, Dube gets low and looks to smoke it down the ground but ends up slicing it high into the sky. The ball comes down near the mid on region as Tristan Stubbs comes in from long on and keeps hi eyes on the ball before taking a fine catch just inches from the ground. Six and out or Dube and CSK are in deep trouble here at 65 for 4.

9.1SIX! Just what the doctor ordered for CSK! Fractionally too short and on leg, Shivam Dube clears the front leg, hangs back and swings it wide of deep mid-wicket for a biggie.

Strategic Break! Well then, a dominant display with the ball from DC thus far and they could have even a wicket or two more at this stage. CSK do have the batting depth but need acceleration from somewhere. Vijay Shankar has ridden his luck and will be itching to make good use of it, whereas Shivam Dube hasn't found his timing yet. This partnership could be crucial for both sides in this middle phase. Let's see which side can make the best use of the middle phase.

8.6Tossed up, on off, Shivam Dube opts to stay back and just pushes it down to long on for another single.

8.5Nagging length on middle, turning in, Shankar hops back and pulls it flat to wide long on for one more.

6.5Stays around the wicket and looks for the yorker on leg stump. Turns out to be a full toss that is just swung away low towards deep square leg for a single.

6.4Around the wicket now to the left-hander and bowls it short and across the off stump, Dube taps it away through backward point and pick up a single.

6.1Banged in a bit short nd just around off, Dube hangs back and stays upright before just tapping it down to backward point.

Mitchell Starc (2-0-11-1) is back into the attack.

5.6Oh, uppish but safe! Floated up, full and at the stumps, Shankar leans on to drive but the ball holds in the deck and goes off the face of the blade towards the non-striker and out of the bowler's reach.

5.5Flatter one, pushed through full on the pads, Dube nudges it away to mid-wicket for a quick single.

5.4FOUR! A gift from the bowler and Shivam Dube puts it away. Dragged too short and wide, Dube presses back and punches it to the right of the diving cover fielder for a boundary.

Shivam Dube, the Impact sub is in next. He replaces Matheesha Pathirana.

5.3OUT! CAUGHT! Another one bites the dust and DC do pick up 3 wickets inside the Powerplay. Vipraj Nigam tosses the ball up just outside the line of leg stump and it is the wrong'un that turns away from the left-hander. Devon Conway leans on, opens the stance and looks to swing across the line but goes against the turn and ends up slicing it high up around covers. Axar Patel there takes a simple catch and CSK are now 41/3!

5.2Drifted onto the pads, looking to turn it across, Shankar nudges it 'round the corner for a run.

5.1FOUR! Vijay Shankar looking to make good use of the life he got early on. Short and wide to begin with, Shankar stands upright and just slaps it away through cover-point for a boundary.

4.6Back of a length and outside off, Shankar comes forward and taps it down to covers for a single.

4.6WIDE! Attempted slower bumper, this one flies over Shankar's head, wide called.

4.5Excellent running! Back of a length and the hips, worked away just wide of deep backward square leg and the batters pinch a couple of runs.

4.4Another off-pace bumper, around off, Conway fetches and pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a run.

4.3Oh, a direct hit and that was gone! Length ball at the stumps, Vijay Shankar advances and pushes it straight to mid-wicket before taking off for the single. Vipraj Nigam picks up the ball and has a shy at the bowler's end but misses.

4.2A slowish bumper, over middle, Conway mistimes the pull and gets it through square leg for a single this time.

4.1FOUR! Mohit Sharma is greeted into the attack with a boundary. Short and angled into the body, Devon Conway pulls it away wide of square leg and picks up a boundary.

3.6A big shout from the bowler or LBW but the umpie turns it down and even the keeper isn't much interested in this one. Fuller in length, on middle and sliding in, Conway plays all over it and the ball pings the pads, rolling to the off side. They pick up a leg bye.

3.5Back of a length over off, flicked away using the wrists down to deep square leg for just on more.

3.4Good length, angling it in at the stumps, Conway uses his feet to advance and punches it square of covers for a quick run.

3.3Just back of a length and over middle, Shankar hops back and tucks it to the leg side for another single.

3.2Hard length around the fifth stump line, Conway plays it late and just dabs it down behind backward point for a single.

3.1Good-length delivery on off, Devon Conway leans right on and blocks it off. Also, Abishek Porel is off the field and KL Rahul has taken over the keeping role.

2.6On the fuller side again and around off, Vijay Shankar leans on to block. End of a top over from Starc.

2.5Oh, right on the boot but there's not much of an appeal. Full and straight at the stumps, another one that swings back in late and Shankar plays all over it. The keeper reckons there's an inside edge and DC don't take the review but replays suggest that was flush on the boot. CSK get away with one here.

2.4Oh, that's missed the off stump by a few inches! This is pitched up in the channel around off and starts to swing back in pretty late. Vijay Shankar looks to drive but is beaten on the inside edge and the ball misses the off stump as well. Good stop from Abishek Porel behind the stumps as well.

Vijay Shankar is the next batter in.

2.3OUT! CAUGHT! Helped on its way but straight to the fielder! A quick bumper from Mitchell Starc and this is bowled around leg, attacking the bodyline of the batter. Ruturaj Gaikwad just gets inside the line and tries to angle it away, using the pace but ends up nurdling it flat towards deep backward square leg where Jake Fraser-McGurk takes a safe catch around his head. Starc gets the CSK skipper and Chennai are 20/2!

2.2Fuller one, curving back into the off stump, Ruturaj Gaikwad punches it firmly but straight to the cover fielder.

2.2WIDE! Fuller in length and darted down leg, Gaikwad misses the flick but a wide is called.

2.1FOUR! That is some timing! A perfectly good delivery, on a length and in the channel, just darting across, Ruturaj Gaikwad leans halfway across and pushes at it on the up. The ball pierces the gap between mid off and covers and goes through for a boundary.

1.6Hard length around middle and leg, sliding on, Gaikwad nudges it across in front of square on the leg side and picks up a quick single.

Skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad walks in at number 3.

1.5OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Mukesh Kumar bowls this one back of a length and at 134 clicks around middle and leg. The ball just holds in the deck as Rachin Ravindra looks to flick but ends up running it off the face of the blade and straight back towards the bowler who takes one of the more simpler return catches. A huge wicket early on for Muskesh and DC and CSK are now 14/1 in 1.5 overs.

1.4Back to over the wicket for Rachin and this is banged in short and across the left-hander. Ravindra gets a bit low and lets it through.

1.3On a hard length, sliding it in from around middle and off Conway leans on to tuck but gets it off the pads past square leg for a leg bye.

1.2Around the wicket now, bowled back of a length and around off, Conway jams it down to the right of point where Vipraj Nigam misses the pick-up completely and concedes an additional run.

1.1Short of a length to begin with and this is bowled over leg, Ravindra pulls it down to deep backward square leg for one.

Mukesh Kumar to operate from the other end.

0.6FOUR LEG BYES! Errs in line does Starc and pays the price! Slower one, full and drifted into the pads, Conway misses the flick and the ball brushes the pads, before slipping past the keeper an into the fine leg fence.

0.5Pitches it right up on the off stump, at 144.5 clicks as well, Conway is late on the drive and gets an inside edge onto the pads.

0.4Gets a good hand on it! On the fuller side and straight at the stumps, Conway flicks it away but Mukesh Kumar at square leg dives to his left and saves a couple of runs for his side.

0.3Hard length outside off, Ravindra stands tall and punches it away through the point region for another single.

0.2No harm done! Banged in well short and angled down leg, Devon Conway is taken aback and pulls it off the gloves to short fine leg. Tristan Stubbs with a fumble and that allows the batters to sneak in a single.

0.2Ravindra and CSK are off the mark! A bit fuller and a bit wider from Starc, Ravindra dabs it down wide of the point region and picks up a quick single. A very late call for a front-foot NO BALL from the third umpire. Free Hit coming up...

0.1BEATEN! Over the wicket comes Starc and serves it on a good length in the channel, gets it to just shape away as well. Rachin Ravindra is flat-footed and pokes at it but is well beaten.
