Flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh, were temporarily suspended on Saturday after a massive fire broke out in the airport’s cargo section, sending thick black smoke plumes visible from a distance and prompting a large-scale emergency response.

Later, Talha Bin Zasim from the Fire Service and Civil Defence Media Cell stated that 28 units were actively combating the flames, with reinforcements on standby.

The fire erupted in the Cargo Village, used for storing imported goods. The executive director of the airport, Md Masudul Hasan Masud, confirmed that emergency measures were underway.

Multiple netizens shared videos on X showing the inferno and noting the presence of firefighting teams at the site. Bangladesh Fire Service, two fire units from the Bangladesh Air Force, and Bangladesh Civil Aviation are all working to extinguish the fire.
