These startups are hiring across job roles amid slowdown

The hiring is mainly centred around expansion plans for the next year. The startups say they are also looking for niche talent to prepare for the future and enter new markets.

Logistics firm Borzo plans to hire 100-120 new team members in 2024.

Amid economic headwinds, a select group of startups is bucking the trend and hiring more hands. Ekkaa Electronics, Park+, and Borzo, among others, are hiring in large numbers across departments and job roles.

The hiring is mainly centred around expansion plans for the next year. Besides, startups are looking for niche talent to prepare for the future and enter new markets.

Ekkaa Electronics

Ekkaa Electronics is on a massive expansion spree, and plans to add 1,600-1,800 people within a year. The LED TV Manufacturer is investing in a new manufacturing unit in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore with complete backward integration and in-house design and manufacturing solutions.

“While we will continue to manufacture LED TVs, we will also be expanding our product lines to manufacture more consumer electronic products. To cater to these demands we will be increasing our headcount and adding more manpower to manage different responsibilities,” Sagar Gupta, Founder and Director of Ekkaa Electronics, told Moneycontrol.

Those possessing an ITI certificate and those with an engineering background will be considered for various roles, including in production, inventory management, warehouse and material management.

Ekkaa will be looking for specific technical skills such as those needed for operation of machinery and equipment, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, knowledge of manufacturing processes, as well as programming manufacturing devices.

Park+

Auto-tech startup Park+ said it will hire 250-300 employees in the next six months, of which around 100 positions will be made available to techies. The firm is currently looking to expand its AI, ML and data science team.

“To ensure that our users get the best in-app and off-app experience, our tech team has to be the best in the business. Additionally, as we expand our service portfolio, we will need a robust tech team to build, grow and sustain this expansion,” said Hitesh Gupta, Co-Founder & CTO of Park+.

Candidates planning to apply must have a deep understanding of machine learning, advanced analytics, advanced math, programming (Python, Golang) as well as data visualisation. A BTech in computer science or any other related field is mandatory.

Borzo

Logistics firm Borzo plans to hire 100-120 new team members in 2024. The plan is a vital part of Borzo’s strategy to centralise its operations in India on a global scale. Specifically, 85 percent of the new hires will focus on strengthening the support team in various departments and bolstering sales efforts.

Borzo is actively seeking individuals for key roles in DevOps, Operations, and various positions that would contribute significantly and add value to its operations.

Primarily, Borzo is in search of senior-level DevOps professionals who can bring substantial expertise to its team and is specifically focusing on experienced individuals to contribute their advanced skills and knowledge to all the open roles.

“The hiring won’t be limited to the current requirements only; we're open to exploring potential roles that align with our company's growth and development,” said Eugene Panfilov, General Manager of Borzo, India and Brazil.

Rubix Data Sciences

In the next six months to a year, tech startup Rubix Data Sciences aims to onboard approximately 60-75 new team members. The hiring is focused on people with expertise in sales and business development, data analysis, product development, risk analytics, operations management, finance analysis, customer support, collection management, finance leadership, and executive finance roles.

“Through strategic hiring, we aim to bolster our technological prowess,” said Swapnil Mane, Manager of HRBP at Rubix Data Sciences.
The skills in focus include Product Development, Risk Analytics, Technology, Sales, and Finance functions.

Data analysis is a critical aspect of Rubix’s operations, requiring individuals with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Proficiency in data mining, machine learning, and statistical analysis, along with experience in utilising data visualisation tools, will be a plus, the company said. Equally important is the ability to convey complex data findings clearly and concisely, facilitating informed decision-making within the organisation.

For those inclined towards the product domain, Rubix is looking for individuals with experience in product development, with the ability to understand latent customer needs and convert them into product features.
