Information technology (IT) firm Capgemini announced a leadership change in its India operations on October 1, with Sanjay Chalke set to take over as CEO from January 1, 2026.

Ashwin Yardi, who has led Capgemini in India for seven years, will retire from executive duties at the end of December and assume the role of non-executive Chairman of the board of Capgemini in India.

Chalke, currently Chief Operating Officer, will also join the company’s Group Executive Committee.

Meanwhile, Yardi joined Capgemini in 1995 and has been part of its Group Executive Committee since 2018, overseeing India’s expansion from about 1.05 lakh employees to nearly 1.8 lakh during his tenure. He earlier served as COO of the India business, with stints in multiple geographies, including the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Chalke has been with Capgemini for over a decade and was previously EVP and Head of Sogeti India. Previously, he led the global SAP business at DXC Technologies (formerly CSC). As COO of Capgemini India, he managed transformation programmes across operations, talent acquisition, and delivery assurance.

Capgemini employs nearly 180,000 people across 13 locations in India, making it the company’s largest delivery base. Globally, the Paris-headquartered IT services group reported €22.1 billion in revenues for 2024.
