Upcycle your old tyre into a beautiful rope coffee table in 3 steps

Whenever it comes to products like tyres, it is always difficult for us to recycle them. Since they are one of the most toxic wastes around, it’s a struggle to up-cycle them into something useful. But if you have kids and the elderly around and have thrown away your sharp edged furniture, this tutorial will surely bring a smile on your face. You not only get to make a coffee table from scratch but it will also not burn a hole in your pocket!
Materials needed

Step 1
Before you begin creating the coffee table, ensure the tyre is clean. Now to make the tyre sturdy place a 6 mm MDF sheet over each opening. Depending on the size of your tyre cut out the MDF sheet. Now drill holes into the sheet and tyre using a drill and then secure it tightly using screws. Now repeat the process around all the sides of the tyre (including the bottom) until you have covered the entire surface.
Step 2
Now using some hot glue begin placing the rope around the sheet. Start by applying some glue in the centre of the board and continue wrapping the rope around in the shape of a snail. Go around slapping a lot of glue before you stick the rope and ensure the rims are quite tight and firm. Now continue the process till you have covered the entire tyre. Once you have reached the bottom board, cut the rope using scissors and remember not to cover the bottom otherwise your coffee table will not remain stable on the ground. Now set it aside to dry and harden.
Step 3
With a help of a paint brush, cover the coffee table with some sealer. Be generous and slather on a thick coat and don’t forget to cover those nooks and crannies. Once completed set it aside to dry for an hour and then apply another coat of sealer. Now let it dry overnight and there you have your own rustic coffee table. Now all you need is a cup of hot coffee and a book!
