US stock index futures gained early Wednesday with the S&P 500 rising 0.48 percent to 6,456.5. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures was trading flat at 45,357. Nasdaq 100 futures also rose 0.71 percent to 23,441.
Russell 2000 futures, however, slipped into negative territory, down 3.1 points at 2,353.9.
The gains in S&P 500 came after a US judge ruled against breaking up the Google parent in an antitrust case, easing a major regulatory overhang for the tech giant on Tuesday.
According to a Reuters report, this allows Google to retain control of its Chrome browser and Android mobile operating system, while barring certain exclusive contracts with device makers and browser developers. Stocks of Alpabhet were trading higher by around 6 percent in pre-trading.
Shares of Macy’s also gained more than 13% in premarket trading after posting better-than-expected second-quarter results and raised its full-year outlook, CNBC reported.
On the other hand, Asia markets close mixed. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 0.6% to close at 25,343.43, China’s CSI 300 declined by 0.68% to close at 4,459.83, Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.88% to close at 41,938.89, while South Korea's Kospi index added 0.38% to close at 3,184.42. At close, India's Nifty 50 increased by 0.55% to close at 24,715.05 while the BSE Sensex index gained 0.51% to close at 80,567.71.
European markets traded broadly higher on Wednesday, with major indices extending gains on optimism around global growth prospects. France’s CAC 40 climbed 0.95% to 7,727.18, while Germany’s DAX added 0.78% to 23,670.24 and the pan-European Stoxx 600 rose 0.69% to 546.92. London’s FTSE 100 also advanced 0.52%, supported by strength in energy and financials, and Spain’s IBEX 35 gained 0.15%.
