GIFT Nifty, the dollar-denominated futures contract based on Nifty 50 index, has clocked an all-time high monthly turnover of $103.45 billion, or Rs 9.16 lakh crore during October, marking its highest monthly volume since inception.
Since its operational launch, GIFT Nifty has recorded a cumulative volume of over 52.71 million contracts, or a total turnover of $2.39 trillion as of October 30, 2025. This steady increase in participation and liquidity has established GIFT Nifty as a key global gateway for trading Indian index derivatives, the NSE International Exchange based out of GIFT City said in a statement.
The record turnover highlights growing participation and deepening investor confidence in GIFT Nifty as a global benchmark for India’s equity market. The exchange said the milestone underscores GIFT Nifty’s pivotal role in representing India’s growth story to global investors and enhancing the country’s financial market stature.

“This milestone reflects the growing global interest and trust in the GIFT Nifty as a benchmark for the India’s growth story”, The NSE International Exchange added. “We are glad to witness the success of GIFT Nifty and express our sincere gratitude to all the participants for their overwhelming support and making GIFT Nifty a successful contract,” the statement further said.
The October record caps a series of milestones by GIFT Nifty since its migration from Singapore to GIFT City, Gujarat, reinforcing India’s ambition to be a major player in international financial markets after started trading from July 2023.
Trading turnover at NSE International Exchange, the platform hosting GIFT Nifty, has grown sharply since the commencement of its full-scale operations. The sustained growth demonstrates the contract’s rising relevance for international investors seeking exposure to India. GIFT Nifty operates in two trading sessions, the first one runs from 6:30 am to 3:40 pm, and the second session runs from 4:35 pm to 2:45 am the next day.
