First Tick: Here are the top global cues for today’s trade

Oil prices rose on Wednesday after Israel attacked Hamas leadership in Qatar and U.S. President Donald Trump asked Europe to impose tariffs on buyers of Russian oil, but a weak market outlook capped gains.

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty are likely to see a flat to positive start on September 10,  tracking GIFT Nifty, which was hovering around 24,992.50.

Indian equity indices ended with strong gains on September 9 with Nifty above 24,850, led by IT, pharma, FMCG stocks.

At close, the Sensex was up 314.02 points or 0.39 percent at 81,101.32, and the Nifty was up 95.45 points or 0.39 percent at 24,868.60. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were up 0.2% each.

GIFT Nifty (Up)

The GIFT Nifty is trading marginally higher at around 24,992.50, indicating a flat to opening start for the day.

Asian Equities (Gain)

Asian stocks advanced Wednesday as technology shares powered gains and on hopes the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates to curb a jobs downturn.

US Equities (Up)

Wall Street's three main indexes scored record high closes on Tuesday, while UnitedHealth rallied, and a downward payrolls revision supported expectations the Federal Reserve will soon cut interest rates to shore up economic growth.

The S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Dow Jones Industrial Average each ended with fresh all-time highs, extending a rally this year fueled by excitement about artificial intelligence and expectations of lower borrowing costs.

The S&P 500 climbed 0.27% to end the session at 6,512.61 points, surpassing its record last Thursday.

The Nasdaq gained 0.37% to 21,879.49 points, its second consecutive record high close.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.43% to 45,711.34 points, exceeding its previous record close on August 28.

US Bond Yield (Flat)

The yield on 10-year Treasuries and 2-year Treasuries were little changed in the early trade on Wednesday.

Dollar Index (Up)

The dollar index was trading with marginal gains against the other major currencies.

Asian currencies (Down)

Among Asian currencies except China Renminbi, all other currencies were trading lower in the early trade on Wednesday.

Crude (Rises)

Oil prices rose on Wednesday after Israel attacked Hamas leadership in Qatar and U.S. President Donald Trump asked Europe to impose tariffs on buyers of Russian oil, but a weak market outlook capped gains.

Gold (Flat)

Gold steadied just below a record as traders evaluated US data that strengthened the case for Federal Reserve interest-rate cuts.

Fund Flow Action

The Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) snapped 11-day selling streak as they purchased equities worth Rs 2,050 crore on September 9, while Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought equities worth Rs 83 crore on the same day.
