Heavy rain lashed out in various parts of Bengaluru, leading to severe waterlogging and significant disruptions in traffic on October 9.

According to Bengaluru traffic police, waterlogging was reported in at least ten locations across the city. These affected areas included Roopena Agrahara on Hosur Road, Nayandahalli on Mysuru Road, Haralur Junction on Hosur Road, railway underpass at Sheshadripuram, near Dhananjaya Palace in Vijayanagar, near Nagarjuna Junction on Bannerghatta Road, Anil Kumble Circle on MG Road, Kalyan Nagar bridge, opposite Chickpet Metro station, and Hesaraghatta cross in Peenya.

The heavy rains also flooded several flyovers, prompting the traffic police to issue advisories. In one such advisory, motorists were cautioned not to take the Electronics City flyover towards Bengaluru City due to waterlogging in Roopena Agrahara. Instead, they were advised to take a left diversion towards NICE Road or a right diversion at Hosa Road.

Waterlogging was reported at Horamavu underpass (KR Puram towards Nagawara), Salem Bridge in Mahadevpura, and Panathur junction (traffic movement towards the railway bridge and K B Halli was particularly hit). Additionally, one side of the road near Yashaswini School on Kanakapura Road had to be temporarily closed due to waterlogging.

Tech corridor Outer Ring Road (ORR) also faced waterlogging. Karthik Nagar junction to Devarabeesanahalli junction and stretch from Ecospace towards Ibbalur were inundated. The heavy showers also led to slow-moving traffic on Tumakuru Road.

According to the Meteorological Department on October 9  – Bengaluru city received 14mm of rain, HAL recorded 1.3mm of rainfall, and the airport received 0.5mm of rain till 8:30 pm.
