StanChart to create awareness for UN's Global Goals

The bank will use its 86,000 employees and millions of clients to spread the word about the Goals, the company said in a statement.

Standard Chartered Bank today said its global network of employees and clients will create awareness about the United Nations' programme "Global Goals for Sustainable Development". UN's Global Goals is a series of 17 ambitious targets to end poverty, fight inequality and injustice and tackle climate change for everyone by 2030. The bank is proud to be one of the founding partners of "Project Everyone", which aims to raise awareness of the Goals, reaching seven billion people in seven days.

The bank will use its 86,000 employees and millions of clients to spread the word about the Goals, the company said in a statement. Project Everyone founded by renowned filmmaker and founder of Comic Relief Richard Curtis for the United Nations aims to reach 7 billion people in 7 days since September 26 with news of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Standard Chartered will be activating the campaign by utilising its branch network, online banking platforms, ATMs, paid media channels and social media channels to reach employees and clients across the world, it said.

In India, the bank is organising a drawing competition for students across the country to raise awareness of the UN's 17 Global Goals. Through this competition, it will communicate the Global Goals message to around 700,000 school children from 2300 schools. "As a Bank, we often talk about the importance of being Here for good.

This is not just a brand promise, it is an ethos that we try to live by every day," Standard Chartered plc Chairman Sir John Peace said. Richard Cutnis said, "The Millennium Development Goals extreme poverty across the world.The new Global Goals for Sustainable Development give us the opportunity to end it for good."
