Parliament likely to witness more disruptions on Wednesday

After the first day of the session was marred by adjournments in the Rajya Sabha, the second day two is unlikely to be a calm one. Congress is likely to file an adjournment motion on Wednesday demanding a discussion on the Vyapam scam.

Congress is also planning to hold a silent protest against the government on Wednesday in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament House complex with party president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi at the helm.The opposition party has been demanding the resignation of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan insisting that a fair and impartial probe into the scam was not possible without his removal.

Congress has also decided to take up the issue of corruption in a major way in this session. Apart from raising the issue of Vyapam, they will also be holding the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government accountable for the controversy surrounding External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje over their alleged links with former Indian Premeir League (IPL) boss Lalit Modi.

The party has been demanding the resignation of Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje over the Lalit Modi issue.

However, sources within the Congress claim that the party is divided on the approach that should be adopted in Parliament. While one section feels that it is too early to demand resignations of BJP ministers in the house, another faction feels that they can't back down now.

The first day of the session yesterday saw absolute mayhem in the Rajya Sabha and the house was adjourned after 4 disruptions.
