Dhanlaxmi Bank major shareholder, director C K Gopinathan passes away

Gopinathan has a 7.5 percent stake in the bank as of September 2023

Gopinathan was appointed to the board with effect from August 2016.

C K Gopinathan, director on the board of Kerala-based Dhanlaxmi Bank and one of the major shareholders, passed away on November 27 following a major heart attack, according to people familiar with the development.

Gopinathan has a 7.5 percent stake in the bank as of September 2023 and has permission to hold up to 9.99 percent.

According to the website of the bank, Gopinathan was appointed to the board with effect from August 2016.

Gopinathan has more than 25 years of experience in the banking and finance sectors. Prior to this, Gopinathan was a Director at the Catholic Syrian Bank for almost eight years from September 26, 2008, to July 20, 2016.

Also, Gopinathan was a Director of C.K.G Supermarket Limited and Managing Director of C.K.G Securities and Investments Limited.

Gopinathan has major investments in various leading companies across the State.

Other directors on the board of Dhanlaxmi Bank include Managing Director and CEO Shivan JK and RBI-appointed Additional Directors DK Kashyap and Nageswara Rao. Other directors include KN Madhusoodanan, Sreesankar Radhakrishnan, Nirmala Padmanabhan, G Rajagopalan and Vardhini Kalyanaraman.
