Ola Electric said on August 15 that Krutrim, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup launched by Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal, are now live with Ola Electric and Ola Cabs along with Krutrim's AI customer care tool.

This was announced by Aggarwal during Ola's ‘Sankalp 2024’ event in Bengaluru.

Krutrim, first unveiled in December 2023, became the country's first AI unicorn earlier this year after disclosing a $50 million financing at a $1 billion valuation. The funding round was led by Matrix Partners India, an early backer of Aggarwal's other ventures Ola Cabs and the IPO-bound Ola Electric.

At the event, Aggarwal also said that the company is going to set up a 1-GW data centre facility by 2028. "Right now our capacity is 20 mw," he added.

Along with the data centre, the firm also said that it will launch India's first chip, developed by Krutrim.

" We are challenging state of art AI chip performance by 2028. We have to build towards this vision, this is our big moonshot project...We will deliver our first AI chip to cater to our country by 2026," Aggarwal said.

Krutrim launched a variety of AI chips namely Bodhi - 1 and Bodhi -2 which supports 10 trillion plus parameters. Bodhi 2 will be launched by 2028, the firm said.

On May 4th, Krutrim launched a standalone Android app for its eponymous AI chatbot that intends to take on rivals such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini and Microsoft's Copilot.

The company launched its AI chatbot in public beta in February, after announcing it in December. It is Krutrim's first product that will be powered by its multilingual large language models (LLM), also called Krutrim.

The chatbot assists consumers in over 10 Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, besides Hinglish (a mix of Hindi and English) and English with support for all 22 languages expected later in 2024.

At the event, Ola also announced change in brand name of its ride-hailing service from Ola Cabs to Ola Consumer, in order to cover a wide range of consumer services.

In the event Ola also said it is bringing back Ola Share, the ride sharing facility in Ola Cabs. The service, which used to be available before the Covid-19 pandemic, has gone live from today in Bangalore and is expected to be opened in other cities soon.

In 2020, Ola suspended shared rides temporary in an effort to curb spread of coronavirus that has killed over 10,000 persons so far globally

At ‘Sankalp 2024’, Ola also showcased its automated dark stores, which are small retail warehouses that stores goods for rapid deliveries. Robots will be installed in this dark stores to reduce human involvement in the process, and will be operated by Ola, said Aggarwal.
