PC maker HP today launched its 'Omen' range of notebooks and a desktop to tap the growing community of gaming enthusiasts in the country.

Priced between Rs 79,990 and Rs 1.4 lakh, HP's range will compete with the likes of Asus and BenQ, who have a strong line-up of gaming devices.

"The Indian gaming market has been expanding and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15 percent in next five years.

This not only includes serious gamers, but also a large and growing community of casual gaming enthusiasts," HP India Senior Director, Personal Systems, Ketan Patel told PTI.

He added that the range includes various configurations and price points to meet the varied demands of the gaming community.

According to a CII report, India's gaming industry was valued at USD 543.08 million in 2016 and is projected to cross USD 800 million by 2022.

Computer gaming segment accounted for a share of 15.54 percent of the Indian gaming market at USD 84.4 million in 2016.

The gaming industry in India has grown rapidly over the last decade, predominantly on the back of increasing smartphone and Internet penetration coupled with rising income levels in the country.

"We have a portfolio of innovative products in the Indian market and we think this is the right time to enter the Indian gaming market," Patel said.

The new launch includes five notebooks and a desktop powered with sharp designs and graphics. The laptops will be available in two variants -- 17.3-inch and 15.6-inch screen size.

HP is also introducing gaming accessories like keyboard, headset, mouse and mouse pad.

Omen range was launched by HP in November, 2014 globally.

Some of the devices are also virtual reality (VR)-ready.

The devices will start retailing in March on HP's website, select HP World stores, e-commerce portals and large format retail stores.

"The new Omen platform offers the features gamers rely on -- power for battling on the go, graphics for smooth gameplay, great storage and advanced thermal cooling to tackle the latest games," HP India Managing Director Rajiv Srivastava said.
