Nine companies are eyeing to develop the Rs 3,000-crore Tadadi port project in Karnataka. The bidders include JSW Energy-Leighton Contractors, GVK-Samsung consortia, GMR Infra, Mundra Port, Gammon India, Vadinar port, DSC, Navayuga Engineering and Malco Power reports Business Standard. The RFQs had to be submitted by the March 14.
The port will have a capacity of 34.1 million tonne per annum. The multi-purpose, all-weather, Greenfield port is a public-private partnership project. Karnataka State Industrial Investment and Development Corporation will oversee the bidding process and the bidding company then takes the responsibility for design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of the project.
The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board has acquired around 1,819 acres of land for the development of the port on the estuary of the Aghanashini river. The port is likely to supply to the iron-ore belt in Bellary-Hospet in North Karnataka.
