India celebrated a historic T20 World Cup victory over New Zealand, and a British man in Delhi joined the festivities, sharing his enthusiasm online.
Taking to Instagram, Nick Booker posted a video of himself celebrating India’s win at India Gate, waving the tricolour from the sunroof amid cheering crowds.
“This is fourth time I have come to India Gate to join in celebrations following a World Cup win,” Booker says in the video.
Booker shared a caption with the video, saying that joining India Gate celebrations for India’s World Cup victories has become his tradition.
“Congratulations India. This is fourth time I have come to India Gate to join in celebrations following a World Cup win. First one was nearly 19 years ago in 2007. I came back here again after the 2011 win then in 2024 and finally tonight! Wow! Do you know anyone else who has celebrated all four here? Only one I’ve missed was 1983,” he wrote.
The post drew many reactions from users who admired Booker’s tradition of celebrating India’s World Cup victories.
One user said, “Cricket truly brings people together from all over the world.” Another added, “You celebrate with more passion than many locals.” A third commented, “India Gate comes alive during these celebrations. Glad you witnessed it again.” A fourth wrote, “Respect for keeping this tradition alive year after year.”
India’s historic win
India beat New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at Ahmedabad, becoming the first team to win back-to-back Men’s T20 World Cups and the first to lift the trophy at home, claiming their third title.
