Chhattisgarh election results: All about when and where to watch on Dec 3

Chhattisgarh assembly election results 2023: Exit polls have predicted a close fight between the ruling BRS and the Congress. Ever since its inception, the state has only had K Chandrashekar Rao as the chief minister.

December 01, 2023 / 12:11 IST
KCR's party Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) won the last elections in the state, securing 88 out of the total 119 seats.

All 119 Assembly constituencies of Telangana, consisting of a 3.17-crore-strong electorate, polled under strict security measures on November 30 to seal the fate of 2,290 candidates representing 109 national and regional parties. The turnout reached 68.49 percent at the close of the day.

The state saw a three-way battle among the incumbent Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the Indian National Congress, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The BRS is trying to retain power for the third straight term, while the Congress and the BJP are fighting to wrest power from it.

After several exit polls suggested the Grand Old Party's victory in the state, Congress Telangana president Revanth Reddy said that the election was not Congress versus BRS. "Some 4 crore people were against BRS. This is the victory of the people of Telangana,” he tweeted. "We are going to get over 80 seats."
