Valentine’s day is here and it’s time to create the perfect makeup look to complement your natural beauty. Going for a romantic dinner, a fun Galentine’s night out, or spending the evening out with someone special, choosing the right makeup for your skin tone can amp up your entire look. But how?
Makeup should boost your features and reflect your personality. The key is to find shades that complement your skin tone while keeping the look fresh and effortless, says Pradeep Goyal, Founder, Glam21.
He suggests various makeup looks tailored to every skin tone:

Fair skin: A delicate and dreamy look works best for fair skin tones. Start with a light foundation base for a flawless finish. A rosy or peachy blush adds a natural flush to the cheeks. "Fair skin tones look stunning with soft pastels. Light pinks and peaches create a youthful, radiant look without washing out the complexion," suggests Goyal. For the eyes, blend taupe or champagne hues into the crease and finish with a subtle winged eyeliner. A light rouge pink or coral lipstick complements the soft tones, keeping the look effortlessly romantic.
Medium skin tone: Warm hues beautifully rev up medium skin tones. Keep the base simple and opt for golden shimmer or soft brown eyeshadows. A touch of highlighter on the cheekbones adds that radiant glow. "A pop of coral or apricot blush warms up the complexion beautifully," Goyal advises.
For lips, go bold with berry pink or deep mauve shades. “Mascara and a touch of eyeliner complete the look, making it perfect for a candlelit date night,” he says.
Olive skin: Olive skin tones look best with warm, earthy shades. A sheer, illuminating foundation improves the skin’s natural undertones. Opt for jet-black winged eyeliner paired with a subtle shimmer on the lids to define the eyes. For a striking yet elegant finish, go for a deep red lip. "A red lipstick with blue undertones balances olive skin beautifully, adding instant sophistication," says Goyal. Pair it with a soft red blush to bring warmth to your face.

Deep and dusky skin: Rich, vibrant shades work wonders for dusky skin tones. A hydrating foundation ensures a seamless, glowing finish. Add depth with golden or bronze eyeshadow, and add glamour to the eyes with a bold, winged liner. "Metallics, deep purples, and warm browns complement deeper skin tones, making the eyes stand out," Goyal explains. For lips, a deep berry or plum shade ties the look together beautifully. Since the eyes are already dramatic, keeping the lips slightly muted maintains balance
All’s well: No matter your skin tone, a long-lasting setting spray is a must to keep your makeup fresh throughout the night. "A quick touch-up with a hydrating mist or blotting paper can keep your look flawless all evening," recommends Goyal.
