If your feet are constantly feeling sore, looking rough, or showing signs of neglect, it's a sign they might be begging for a pedicure. Dry patches, calluses, and dirt buildup are clear indicators that your feet need some tender love and care. Regular foot care is vital for aesthetics and for feet health as it helps prevent infections, and ensures comfort.

Here are some home remedies to take care of your feet:

Dryness: Dry skin on your feet can be caused by cold weather, low humidity, or dehydration. It can lead to cracking, which increases the risk of infections and makes walking uncomfortable. Soak your feet in warm water mixed with a few tablespoons of coconut oil. After soaking, scrub gently with a pumice stone and apply a thick moisturiser to lock in hydration.

Calluses: Calluses form from repeated friction or pressure, often due to ill-fitting shoes or excessive standing. They can cause pain and discomfort and may lead to more serious foot problems. Make a mixture of 1 cup of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of water to form a paste. Apply this paste to the calluses, let it sit for 15 minutes, then scrub with a pumice stone. Rinse and moisturise.

Cracked heels: Cracked heels result from prolonged dryness and pressure, especially if you frequently walk barefoot or wear open-back shoes. These cracks can deepen, leading to bleeding and infections. Apply a mixture of 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to your heels before bed. Cover with socks overnight to let the mixture work its magic, then rinse off in the morning.

Ingrown toenails: Ingrown toenails are seen when the edge of the toenail grows into the surrounding skin, often due to improper nail trimming or tight footwear. This can cause pain, swelling, and potential infections. Soak your feet in warm water with a few drops of tea tree oil. After soaking, gently lift the ingrown edge with a clean cotton swab and apply an antibacterial ointment

Dirt and grime: Accumulation of dirt and grime, particularly between toes, can result from poor hygiene or walking barefoot in dirty environments. This can lead to fungal infections and unpleasant odors. Use a mixture of 1 cup of warm water and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to soak your feet for 20 minutes. This helps to clean, disinfect, and reduce odour.

Foot odourFoot odour is often caused by sweat, bacteria, and fungal infections. Wearing the same shoes without airing them out or not washing feet daily can worsen the problem. Sprinkle baking soda inside your shoes and leave them overnight to absorb moisture and neutralise odor. Also, wash your feet daily with antibacterial soap and dry them thoroughly.
