Colombia’s Catalina Duque is the new Miss International 2025, triumphing over 79 other delegates during the coronation night held on November 27 in Tokyo, Japan. She succeeds Vietnam’s Huỳnh Thị Thanh Thủy and steps into her reign as one of the most compelling titleholders the pageant has seen in recent years.
Throughout the competition, Catalina emerged as one of the standout contenders, outshining because of her blend of calm confidence, communication skills, and a clearly articulated social mission.
In the last Q&A round, contestants had to answer: "How would you describe your Miss International experience to your family and loved ones?"
Catalina's answer showed her emotional openness and understanding of culture. She talked about the Japanese idea of 'Mono no aware' explaining how to enjoy brief moments like fall leaves hugging a child, or eating ramen as considered signs of beauty in daily life. Her simple yet deep thoughts struck a chord with everyone and helped her win.
Catalina's time as Miss International focused on promoting education for girls and young women. Her goal is to boost their self-confidence, teach them leadership, and help them build a strong identity that is not just based on appearance.
In her key initiative, "The Golden Queen: More Than Beauty," tells a tale in pictures. It shows girls that true beauty stems from respect, kindness, and understanding other people's feelings. The book also includes fun interactive pages for girls to express themselves.
She believes, "When we teach with love, we create leaders who make peace and fairness."
Catalina also runs The Golden Club, a podcast. Here, she chats with “the brightest, bravest, and most disruptive minds.” Through open talks, she showcases people who use their life stories and influence to motivate others and spark real change.
Beyond pageantry and communication, Catalina has been involved with several organisations working with children and young girls, reinforcing her long-standing interest in community-driven impact.
