The much-anticipated thriller Ulajh, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah, failed to create an impact at the box office on its opening day. According to Sacnilk, the film managed to earn just ₹1.10 crore in India on day one.
Directed by Sudhanshu Saria, Ulajh saw a slow response in theaters. The overall Hindi occupancy on Friday was a mere 13.02%. Morning shows had an occupancy rate of 7.38%, afternoon shows saw 10.85%, evening shows 13.06%, and night shows peaked at 20.78%. Despite the pre-release buzz, the film struggled to sell more than 1,000 tickets in pre-sales.
Ulajh opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh rated the movie one and a half stars, describing it as uninteresting. He noted that while the film attempted to blend thrills and suspense, it failed to surprise or engage viewers. Adarsh commented, "The plot had potential, but clichés and predictable twists spoil the show… Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah’s performances stand out in this otherwise uninteresting narrative."

Following the film's release, Gulshan Devaiah took to his X handle to discuss its performance, writing, "'Word Of Mouth' is the Mt Everest of publicity. It can’t be created without the organic support of the audience. This is what every movie in the cinemas hopes & prays. #Ulajh is in cinemas today."

The trailer hints at a complex web of hidden truths and betrayals, suggesting an internal leak that threatens the lives of covert agents and forces Suhana into a desperate struggle for survival.
The film also features Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Tailang, and Adil Hussain in key roles.
