What you need to know about Indian Miss World contestant Sini Shetty
Representing India, Sini Shetty, 22, stormed into the Top 20 of the 2024 Miss World Top Model, winning the title of Best Designer Dress from Asia & Oceania, in a Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna gown.
At 5 feet, 9 inches, Shetty carried the navy crystal gown with plunging neckline and thigh-high slit with aplomb. Fitted bustier and flowing skirt, cutout detailing down the sides in the midriff section, an abundance of crystals and silk chiffon wings in the back completed the glam outfit that was just right for the occasion.
Shetty's stylists picked dewy makeup and middle parting in her hair for a simple yet fresh look. In terms of accessories, Shetty's wore a simple bracelet, ring and dangling earrings that were for the most part covered by her hair. And no necklace. The play of sheer and embroidered fabric, silhouette and cutouts, was indeed standout.
In the talent portion of the Miss World contest, she paid homage to former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who won the title in 1994.
Originally from Karnataka, Sini Shetty, is also hugely inspired by another former Miss World: Priyanka Chopra. She has said in interviews that Chopra's advice to break glass ceilings rather than trying to fit into glass slippers (like Cindrella) resonated with her.
An accounts and finance graduate, Shetty is also a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, who learnt the classical form from Radhakrishnan Padmini.
Shetty's parents own and run Mumbai headquartered Shikin Hotels.
