Tony Kakkar has come forward to defend his sister, Neha Kakkar, after she faced a humiliating backlash at her Melbourne concert. Neha, who was reportedly three hours late to her performance, was booed by the audience and even broke down on stage due to the overwhelming emotion. As she cried, a section of the crowd began chanting “Go back,” a response that left Neha visibly shaken. Despite apologizing and trying to salvage the situation, the audience’s anger remained, with some accusing her of being unprofessional.
In light of the incident, Tony Kakkar, also a well-known singer, took to Instagram to share his thoughts, offering an explanation for his sister’s tardiness. Without directly naming anyone or the reasons behind the delay, Tony offered a cryptic but pointed analogy, which hinted that the mismanagement was not Neha’s fault. He wrote, “Suppose I invite you to my city for an event and take full responsibility for all arrangements— booking your hotel, car, airport pickup, and tickets. Now, imagine you arrive only to find that nothing has been booked. No car at the airport, no hotel reservation, and no tickets. In that situation, who is to blame?” This subtle but powerful message highlighted that the mishaps surrounding the event may have been due to logistical issues, not Neha’s lack of professionalism or commitment.
Tony further questioned the treatment of artists, raising concerns about the expectations placed on them by the public. “Artiste maryada mein rahe, aur janta? (An artiste should remain within their limits, but what about the public?)” he asked, addressing the behavior of the crowd. His words were a reminder that while artists are often held to high standards, the public’s reactions and expectations can sometimes be equally unreasonable, especially when there are external factors at play.
In a subsequent post, Tony shared a video from Neha's concert, showing a fan in tears after being invited on stage by the singer. The video served as a counter to the criticism Neha received, with some questioning the authenticity of her emotional breakdown. Tony addressed these doubters by writing, “Fans bhi rote hain… fans ka rona fake nahi toh artist ka kaise ho sakta hai? (Fans cry too… if their tears aren’t fake, then how can an artiste’s be?).” His words underlined the idea that both fans and artists are human beings with emotions, and questioning one person’s tears over another’s creates a false equivalency.
